I am having a hard time forgetting those dreadful pictures of those beautiful creatures that are annually massacred, literally, into extinction. I don’t get this ritual. The islanders of Faroe do not eat the whale meat and per the article these dolphins/whales are left to rot on the beach! “As of the end of November 2008, the chief medical officers of the Faroe Islands have recommended that pilot whales no longer be considered fit for human consumption because of the levels of toxins in the whales.” This practice is a tradition for young boys to transition into manhood? Where is the challenge in that? Whales are playful, gentle creatures. Not one of those boys looked terrified to be in the water with them. I say they should hunt sharks…stand in the water with sharks and pull those stunts with them and let the whales be! At least that would be sporting and fair! What a bunch of wimps! Shame on them. Too bad we can’t load up all our trash on several hundred barges and send it as a gift to the Faroese as a statement we think their philosophies are garbage. Looking for a place to dump waste…drop it on their island…yeah I know…two wrongs don’t make a right. I am just so fired up about this I want to do something…and all I can do is educate all my Face Book friends and those in my life. What good is it knowing that these beautiful beings are being killed? We sign the petition and what is that going to do exactly? That is going to make activist groups, what? Boycott Faroese? What do they offer the world? Looks like their main source of income is fishing…explains why they would want to kill the dolphins/whales. They cut into their livelihood. I know they say ignorance is bliss, but it is also a sin! I hate this world! I can not wait until Yahweh's timer goes off!
